KC and Ashton

KC and Ashton were nice enough to humor me and 'hire' me to take some pictures. Here are a few of the ones i thought were fun/cute.
I had a little too much fun messing around with the sun. What do you think???

A day in the life...

Back in my photo 101 class we had a project to follow an object (or anything) around for a day, I decided to follow Beckham, my cat. Here are some of the interesting ways I have come across her during the day. Yes i know, I have an odd cat...get over it! At least she is cute

TAG!

Melissa tagged me on this one. Lucky I love you like family ;-)
4th picture from my 4th album:

This was taken in Almo, Idaho. Never heard of it?! Thats funny! Thought everyone went to Almo on a normal basis. Ok, so Almo is right by the city of rocks. My good friend Jayne and her family are way into rock climbing and her dad decided to build a wonderful cabin right int he middle of teepees and urts (is that how you spell it?!). It was beautiful and SOOO peaceful, which is just what we needed. So there you go! My first official tag. Um...not sure if anyone will read this but i tag KC, cassie, and Lindsay and anyone else who would like to participate

More of my projects from Photo 102

OK to better explain these pictures I will first introduce you to my all time favorite photography and teacher. Her name is Nicole Hill (well actually I don't know what it is, she just got married last week!!!). She is just a little younger then me but has been obsessed with photography since she was very little. She is amazing! and so very creative. Check out her blog and you will get an idea of why I love her and her work so much. http://www.nicolehill.blogspot.com/
She and her husband will be moving to San Francisco in January and I cant wait to take advantage of her. The Budges have already booked her for a photo shoot of the kids. And if I do decide to ever get married I can promise i will do whatever it takes to make her my photographer...does that help explain my obsession???

OK so onto some of my photos:

We had to go up to a stranger, in his/her element and photograph them. Well if you know me and my anxieties you know this was no easy task. So I drive past this guy everyday on my way to work, I got the nerve up, jumped out of my car and asked if I could photograph him. He was HILARIOUS!!! I was too anxious to ask him if I could cross the construction line so his face is a little too shadowy, but this is my new friend. He no longer works on my commute path but I give tribute to him and his strength to stand in the sun all day!

My next project was to take pictures at sunset. The first I had to have the person in focus and completely blow out the background. My roommate was sweet enough to step in as model and here are the results of the blown out shot...
And here we have the sunset with her completely dark. It was actually a lot of fun and when you see the results it makes the f/stop frustration worth while!

This last picture was a lighting project. We used bounce boards and natural window light. Not the most exciting picture but I love it. I think it is kinda cool...and I promise I don't say that about my own work very often!

Im back!!!

So I know I have been MIA for months now. I havent had internet and when i do have access to it my blog has been the last thing on my mind. I took a photography class during that time and Mom and I attended a photography retreat in california for a weekend. My knowledge has grown and i am slightly better but still, not great. Those manual settings get me stressed if there is any kind of pressure.

For one of the projects we had to reach into a bad, pull out a random item and come up with around 7 different ways to photograph said item. I got silly puddy...and here are my results. The lighting isnt great but hey...still learning here!

Mother's day

This is long overdue!!! I just got these pictures uploaded and figured i had better blog, considering the only people who read my blog happen to be my family.
For Mother's day we went up to Logan to my aunt's house and had a great time with all the grandkids. They were just so cute I had to snap a few pictures!

So the dessert was a huge success with the kids. There is something so fabulous to me about watching a child stuff their face and have no concern for propriety. I want to eat like that again...and actually enjoy EVERY bite

Lake Powell

Memorial weekend trip to Lake Powell
We had at least 30 people on our houseboat from utah and california. There were maybe 20-30 people on the AZ houseboat as well...so it made for a bIg party of LDS singles! Im pretty sure we hit all four seasons in the last week. On our drive down it was fall with heavy rain which turned to winter and a blinding snow storm. On friday we had the sun trying to break through and warming up the air but soon the rain came again and we welcomed springtime! Sunday was when Summer officially set in. It was a fantastic time all in all but i have a feeling i will need another vacation to help recover from powell!

Above is our campsite, from left to right we have our volleyball court, the AZ Houseboat, Our skiboats, and finally our Houseboat

Tawni went fishing with Tyre...it was amazingly peaceful but still chilly out

I was obsessed with the clouds this trip. Every night they were a different color but always looked amazingly beautiful.

My Cruise

This past January I was lucky enough to go on a cruise with two of my close friends and about 300 singles from Utah, Arizona, and California. The trip was amazing and i loved the beauty of it all. I can not wait to go back one day and see it all again!
These first few are of Puerto Rico, sadly we were unable to see it in the daylight but it was still amazing and i loved every minute of it

The next few are a combination of St Thomas and St Marteen.

Overall the trip was amazing. I wish I had the Canon 30D with me for this trip and I think the pictures would've been able to show the beauty in a whole different light. I would love to go back, especially to Puerto Rico and see it in the day light
